United States Indian American Chamber of Commerce Launches Arizona Chapter (USIACC-AZ)

Phoenix, AZ — April 26, 2005 — The United States Indian American Chamber of Commerce (USIACC) Arizona Chapter will be launched on May 2nd 2005. The Arizona Chapter is led by many prominent professionals and community leaders. They include Ms. Rano Singh Sidhu, Commissioner of Governor Napolitano’s Citizen’s Finance Review Commission, and candidate for the Arizona State Legislature in 2004, Dr Ram Krishna, former chairman and current Board Member of the Arizona Medical Board, Vivek Gupta and Subhash Arora, former Presidents of the India Association of Phoenix, Dr. Gautam Shah Founding Member of the Indo-American Foundation of Arizona, Dr Jagwinder Sraow, President of the Arizona Physicians of Indian Origin and past President of Arizona Sikh Medical Association, University of Arizona Professor Dr. Dan Dhaliwal, American Accounting Association Outstanding Educator of the Year 2004 and many other prominent business and community leaders committed to serving the Arizona community.

According to statistics, Small Businesses create two thirds of new private sector jobs in America and employ more than half of all workers. “President Bush is promoting an ‘ownership society’, as the economic models are changing due to the globalization of business,” says Rano Singh, Chair of the organization, “ it behooves us to promote entrepreneurship, self sufficiency and innovation.”

The objective of the USIACC-AZ is to support development of members businesses in the context of promoting community economic development. “The objectives of this endeavor fit nicely within the overall community integration vision drafted by Greater Phoenix Indo-American Community with a purpose of leveraging our diversity in a positive way,” says Vivek Gupta a former President of Indian Association and an Executive Board member.

USIACC-AZ plans to focus on developing business programs that help economic growth of businesses, such as networking, education, job growth and fostering relationship with other business organizations, communities and civic organizations. USIACC-AZ is already in the process of developing relationships with local organizations such as Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, and the Minority Business Development Council among others.

The USIACC-AZ inauguration will be held at the Phoenix City Hall Atrium, located at 200 West Washington Street on May 2nd 2005, from 5 PM to 7 PM. The event is being held in collaboration with the City of Phoenix Community and Economic Development Department. To join the event, please RSVP by email to: usiacc-az@cox.net.

Special Guests attending the inauguration are Mayor Phil Gordon of Phoenix, Ms. Alvillar-Speake, Director Office of Economic Impact & Diversity, U.S. Department of Energy, Gilbert Jimenez, Director Arizona Department of Commerce, and Robert Blaney, Arizona Director for the US Small Business Administration. The USIACC National Chairman KV Kumar, a Scottsdale resident and internationally renowned business executive and a recent appointee to the US Small Business Administration’s National Advisory Council is also an invited guest for the inauguration.
